Prepping a 15s gameplay video
Mobile publishers often judge a game first by a short video, and some use it directly as the test ad. PlayDucky asks for a 15–30 second gameplay video for its CTR test (PlayDucky). Voodoo's submission includes a gameplay video (Voodoo terms).
Rules of thumb
- Show the core loop in the first 5 seconds. CrazyLabs asks for a video or playable that shows the core loop in the first 5 seconds (CrazyLabs).
- Record real gameplay. Capture actual play rather than an edited trailer.
- Vertical if your game is vertical. Record in the same orientation as the game, at the device's native resolution.
- Show one clear goal and one satisfying payoff: a combo, a completed level, a reveal.
- Hide the debug UI, and anything you haven't cleared the rights to (music, logos).
- Don't rely on sound. Make the action readable with the audio off.
Checklist
- Write a 3-beat script: hook, loop, payoff.
- Record several takes on a real device using its built-in screen recorder.
- Trim to 15 seconds, and keep a 30-second cut for publishers that allow it.
- Export as MP4 (H.264) unless the form asks for something else.
- Check the publisher's form for exact length and format limits before you upload.
